June Book Review

Writer: Julia HeckJulia Heck

The Flight Attendant - Chris Bohjalian - ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was pretty intense, but not my all time favorite. Although, I was hooked and HAD to know what happened from only the first few chapters. You'll probably feel the same way just by the summary I give below... Don't worry you'd know everything below just by reading the back of the book anyways.

The main character, Cassie, often finds herself hungover when traveling for work. She's a binge drinker who finds fun adventures and makes many new friends while on the road. One day when she wakes up, she tries to piece together what got her here this morning. She looks over and realizes that she is laying next to a dead man with blood in the sheets (ew). Cassie begins to lie, but soon it gets to be too late and she either needs to come clean or face the truth back in Dubai.

The story takes you through the mystery of figuring out how this dead guy... well... is dead.

The Last Letter from Your Lover - Jojo Moyes - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay... AMAZING. I don't know what I would've changed about this book it was so fabulous!

Jennifer wakes up one morning in the 1960's after an accident and cannot remember anything about her life pre-accident. One day while cleaning, she finds a letter (she assumes for her) signed from "B", asking her to leave her husband and she isn't sure why.

Many years later, in 2003, Ellie finds the rest of these letters and is determined to hear the rest of the story behind the letters to bring her writing career back to life! These letters also help Ellie find the truth behind her confusing love life too!

Sometimes, when you're looking for something, it just might be right under your nose.

In an Instant - Suzanne Redfearn - ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐✨

This was a book that my mom had bought in the past that was housed on my kindle as well. Life hack: You can share your kindle book library with your family!

In an Instant is about how quickly Finn Miller's life changes after a life changing accident during a family trip. The accident cuts Finn's life short and tells the story from her perspective from the outside looking in--not sure if she is helping or making things worse. Finn would do anything to be alive and connected to her family. As heartbreaking as the book is, it reminded me of how fragile life is and how we often take the simple things for granted (as if I really needed that reminder).

It was a very easy book to read that took me for a few twists and turns and really hits the ground running in suspense.

Watch Me Disappear - Janelle Brown- ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Billie went on a solo hiking trip and then never came back. Jonathan, her husband, and daughter Olive are determined to find her, because maybe she isn't dead considering her body was never found.

Olive starts having weird psychic visions (think That's So Raven) of her mom still alive. The visions are trying to guide Olive to find the answers that she is looking for.

This book has you on the edge of your seat for the whole time, but I was not a fan of the ending... at all. I don't want to give anything away! It seemed as though the author wanted to change genres halfway through the book! It was very "psychological thriller" and then kind of turned away from the thriller and more of a different genre book. (I don't know, hard to describe lol)

Another great month of reading. Not a hit out of the park, but still a good one! I'm finding less time to read now that things are opening back up (hallelujah) and the weather is nicer, but still trying to read about 4 books a month! ALSO please feel free to share recommendations of books that you think I should try out! 😊

CHEERS! Happy reading!!
